After a week of back and forth, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush made about front-runner Donald Trump during a Saturday campaign stop.
“Just one other thing — I gotta get this off my chest — Donald Trump is a jerk,” Bush said to an applauding crowd in Contoocook, New Hampshire, CNN reports.
The remarks came during an exchange about what the candidate would do for American’s with disabilities with a man who said he had Asperger’s Syndrome. According to the network, Bush was recounting his work as Governor of Florida securing more money for state’s disability system when he switched his focus to Trump.
“You cannot insult your way to the presidency,” Bush said. “You can’t disparage women, Hispanics, disabled people. Who is he kidding?”
Bush was echoing an attack line that his campaign has been launching at Trump, who previously faced criticism when the billionaire appeared to mock a New York Times reporter with a disability—a charge Trump denies. The two candidates have been going back and forth since the Republican debate Tuesday in Las Vegas, where Bush made a point of confronting Trump head on.
“I feel better now,” said Bush after finishing his remarks on Trump. “I gave myself therapy there. Thank you for allowing me to do it.”
